Chief Technology Officer, Marketing Communications and Legal Affairs Added to Vivamusic.com TeamSingapore, May 16, 2000 - In a move that signals the phenomenal growth of the company, Vivamusic.com,
the music entertainment portal of Asia, today announced that it has appointed former MediaCorp
e-commerce project leader Patrick Stacey as its Chief Technology Officer.
Beginning immediately, Mr. Stacey will oversee all technical aspects of Vivamusic.com. He will
spearhead Vivamusic.com's interactive Web development and e-commerce strategies."The potential
for Vivamusic.com is enormous," said Mr. Stacey. "I look forward to helping Vivamusic.com achieve
its vision of being the premier music distribution portal in Asia."
Mr. Stacey has extensive experience in the field of start-ups, having been heavily involved in
conceptualising business models and technical solutions at MediaCorp. He led the development
team in the analysis, design and implementation of total B2C e-commerce projects in support of
business goals. Some of the projects he worked on included Video On Demand Broadband, which won
the then National Computer Board's prestigious best application award for 1998. Prior to that,
Mr. Stacey was the Applications and Projects Engineer at Sembawang Media where he consulted on
Intranet projects in the government and banking and finance sectors. In 1993, Mr. Stacey published
a book on e-mail while working as a Research Associate at the University of East Anglia in his
native country, England.
Joining Mr. Stacey is Janet Chee, Manager of Business and Legal Affairs. Ms. Chee was formerly
with Vertex Management, the venture capital arm of Singapore Technologies, where she gained
considerable experience in the area of venture capital investments in high-tech start-ups.
She has more than seven years of professional experience in corporate and cross-border
commercial matters, both as a practicing lawyer and as an in-house legal counsel. She has
substantial experience in structuring investment vehicles, drafting and negotiating joint
venture agreements, investment and related security documentation.
Also newly hired is Lester Lim, who has been named Vivamusic.com's Marketing Communications Manager.
Formerly with TRUSTe, the Internet industry's privacy seal program in Silicon Valley, Mr. Lim was
instrumental in marketing the TRUSTe program, more than tripling their number of licensees from
under 400 to over 1500, and making the TRUSTe seal the most visible symbol on the Internet as
measured by Nielsen//NetRatings. Having helped build a successful dotcom in Silicon Valley, Mr.
Lim brings his experience and extensive contacts in Silicon Valley to Vivamusic.com. He will be
heading the Marketing department and will be responsible for building awareness and marketing
Vivamusic.com.
Commenting on the appointments, Mark Lai, CEO of Vivamusic.com, pointed to its significance to

The addition of new staff is the latest in a series of moves by Vivamusic.com to cater to its
rapidly growing music portal. The Web site receives over two million hits a month and currently
has over 30,000 members. Some of the projects in the pipeline include an actual physical extension
of its portal, where people will be able to digitally download songs and physically touch and feel
the products on hand.
