Launched Saturday 13th May 2000, this compilation is a joint venture by NTUC-owned Radio Heart 91.3FM and VPM International. 36 tracks in 2 discs assures you dance music is still alive and kicking.
The CD cover looks upbeat enough with its red, yellow and black streaks bordered by white. Nice squarish words complete the phuturistic feel. Heart 91.3FM has a fun, young and energetic sound which makes the production of the album almost necessary to upkeep its image. Here, Heart Attack seems perfect. Likewise with the image of the station, the album sets out to quench the thirst of hungry party goers – without the booze, the disco lights and the girls of course.
The first track, "Drive Me Crazy" by Espresso, is highly catchy and able to withstand repeat listening. This probably explains why it has held the No. 1 position for 5 weeks on Radio Heart’s Top 20 Chart.
Other tracks include The Name Game It’s a Fine Day and Eiffel 65’s latest single, "Too much of Heaven". It comes complete with an extended version of Smile/Kotoh’s Butterfly, the all too familiar number from Dance Dance Revolution game machines. Probably the only thing that will disrupt the feel of the album is recorded liners in between certain tracks which sporadically remind you this is a Heart 91.3 product.
Although the tracks tire after some time, trance fans, pop lovers, garage junkies and techno freaks will enjoy this compilation.
