DJ Kojak | Crime In The City
I would have thought this was an American album. Complete with ghetto-like pictures of automobiles, the soulful vocals, jazz and even bits of R&B are reminiscent of Afro-American influence. But nope, this French trio, consisting of DJ Vas, Jayhem and Gregoire, known for their energetic live shows, have managed to blend this concoction of jazz, soul, funk and house in quite an amazing release.
Rich not only in vocals but in melody as well, the album spices up towards the end with edgy and crucial tunes (probably inspired by the 70's) that shine through. An eye-opener for those who are quick to judge.
