Gregorian | Master Of Chant
Creating new music at the end of a millennium is not an easy task and the ambitious
project Gregorian is brazen and bold enough to turn pop-music upside down
and confront it with Gregorian chants which developed around the year 600
A.D. They tried to represent four decades of pop music to "convert" them
into Gregorian chants, and they did it. The 60s are represented with
Yardbirds who, in their original version of "Still, I’m sad" and the
famous tune by Simon &Garfunkel’s "Sound of Silence" while the 90s
shine with R.E.M’s classic "Losing My Religion".
Wonder how your favourite pop songs sound like in chants, listen to this album
and find out for yourself. If creating new music means taking it to this
far, one wonder what other "conversions" we can do to music!
