Music from and Inspired by Shaft
The seductive voice of Isaac Hayes opens the new Shaftsoundtrack with "Theme from Shaft".
The 1972 movie classic won an Oscar for the movie song of the year and two Grammys for Best Instrumental Arrangement and Best Original Score written for a Motion Picture. The lyrics for the theme song was written by the singer-composer-songwriter Isaac Hayes himself.
Question is, will the new Shaft soundtrack repeat the success of its predecessor? You give me the answer. The elements of funk are kept to retain its original flavour. In addition to that, hip-hop beats and R&B grooves were injected to give the soundtrack a new lease of life. And not forgetting the retro-soul numbers that were pumped in thanks to R. Kelly, Donell Jones, Carl Thomas, Angie Stone and Alicia Keys.
