Surfacing – defined as
- Emerging, becoming apparent
- Rising to the surface
- Waking Up
And, truly, the title so defines this whole album.
Surfacing, by Canadian artiste Sarah McLachlan showcases
her crystalline voice, profound lyrics, and talent for
penning subtly beautiful, powerful tunes. This album is
about Sarah McLachlan. “Surfacing is about me finally
growing up and facing ugly things about myself. We all
have a dark side….”. The darkness that is described by
Sarah McLachlan has been so powerfully captivated on this
album. The track, “Angel” is also the sountrack for the
movie, “City of Angels.”
In the coming 42nd Grammy’s award, Sarah McLachlan has
been nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Standout tracks
on the shiningly consistent album include the sumptuous
first single, "Building A Mystery" (which has already
caught fire internationally) and the gorgeous piano ballad
"Adia." McLachlan's considerable base at modern rock,
triple-A, and AC, and headlining spot on her Lilith Fair
festival, should set the table for a long-running,
successful album. An artist whose sensibilities are in
tune with the public's thirst for music that comes from
the soul.
