The band has taken a long-awaited break from their endless
array of touring and churning out album after album at the
height of their career in the 80s. During this period each
member of Bon Jovi has also taken the time to venture into
their individual efforts, including solo efforts and musical
and theatrical compositions. The outward change from their
wild days of rock, complete with eyeliner and long hair have
mellowed to a mature band of the 90s and right into the millennium.
After the last album in 1995, Bon Jovi is back with their
latest, Crush. After six albums, the band still keeps the
style of rock that Bon Jovi is recognised for. Yes, it means
that they still sound the same like their previous albums.
Their first single, "It's My Life" is the typical
Bon Jovi song that one can instantaneously recognise. The
first two tracks are hard and thrashy. It soon mellowed down
to a ballad entitled, "Two Story Town". The next
track, "The Next 100 Years," was recorded with a
64-piece orchestra.
Re-energised from their 5-year break, the touring bug has
bitten the band yet again, with their first gig in Germany
in March before moving to Japan for a six-month tour. They
are also expected tour within the United States in September
and October.
While fans residing in North America can look forward to a
taste of Bon Jovi, "Crush" is a must-buy for all
die-hard fans. With their previous scores in mind and a long
break prior to this album, however, Bon Jovi is capable of
better material, especially since each member possesses a
unique talent with the potential to unleash the fires of hell.
A timeless classic nonetheless.
