Don Henley | Inside Job
Home, love, commitment, responsibility and community are the
prominent themes in the latest album released by the former
Eagles singer/guitarist after a decade of silence. Although
it has been some time since we heard from him, Don Henley
does not fail to woo the crowd of baby-boomer followers since
his days with the Eagles.
The opening track, which has Stevie Wonder on the keyboards
and doing the background vocals, speaks of an acquaintance's
selfishness. Henley bides a firm farewell to the bachelor-swinging
days with "For My Wedding"; while his wife, Sharon Summerall,
and the birth of his children inspire "Taking You Home". The
celebration of happy events are also placed next to his skeptical
views of the world, which make the album more interesting
than it seems.
Besides Stevie Wonder, other stars also grace the album. Eagles
guitarist Glenn Frey makes an apperance on "Inside Job", while
Heartbreakers' guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont
Tench help to spice things up. Although not without its imperfections,
the album is worth the long wait.
